TOP 10 HIDDEN FEATURES OF ANDROID

HIDDEN FEATURES OF ANDROID THAT EVERONE SHOULD KNOW

GOOGLE  MAP FEATURE

If you’re lost and without wifi or data, you can still use Google Maps. The system is available offline and allows you to select and download a specific area on the map which you can then browse later.
To create an offline map, press Search > Make this map area available offline. You can store up to six maps on your device.

LOST YOUR PHONE

  1. First, you have to make sure you're logged in to the same Google account on your PC's browser that you use on your phone. You must also be sure to have the latest version of the Google app installed on your phone.
  1. Now type the phrase "find my phone" into Google's search engine on your PC. In response, Google displays a map that attempts to zero in on the location of your device. Give it at least several seconds, and you should eventually see a location on the map that's accurate to a certain distance. For example, the map told me that the location of my device was accurate to 46 feet.
  • To pinpoint your device, click the icon or link for Ring on the map. Your device will ring at full volume for up to five minutes. Once you find it, simply click the power button to turn off the ringing.

OK, that's fine. But what if your phone is lost somewhere in your home? Sorry, but Google won't tell you what room it's in. But it can ring your device so you can try to track it down yourself.
But what if you own an Android tablet instead of a phone? You can still use the find feature. I used it to locate my Nexus 7 tablet, and it worked just fine. Google zeroed in on the slate's location. Clicking on the Ring icon fired up the ring sound on my tablet so I was able to locate it.
The Google search feature isn't the only way to track down a lost Android device. A similar feature, called Android Device Manager, can locate and ring your device. If you think your device has been stolen, you can also remotely lock it and reset the password or erase its data.

DATA USAGE

Your phone's data usage can be tough to track. If your 4G network is quick enough, you could potentially be downloading files at the same speed as your home Internet. Luckily, Android comes with a packed-in data usage notification system.
First, navigate to Settings>>Data Usage. You'll see a graph that displays your data usage, along with a yellow and red bar. The yellow bar designates when your phone will warn you about your data usage. The red is a hard cap on your data to avoid overage fees.
The red line should be your smartphone's monthly data limit. If you don't know your data limit, you should contact your cell carrier as soon as possible.

GAME GRAPHICS

If you like to play games on your Android device and you’re playing it using high-end Android devices, you might want to force enable MSAA to obtain a higher quality rendering of your in game graphics. This feature is turned off in some games by default because it can drain your device’s battery rather quickly. To enable FXAA:
1-Head to Settings > Developer Options.

2-Tap on Force 4x MSAA to enable it.

ACTIVITIES

Your Android app activities are still intact even after you have exited from your app. Most     of   your apps relies on local cached data on Android so that they can load faster and       will   not face any forced close moments. However, there may be apps that use a lot       of activities. You can choose to not keep these activities with these steps:

     - Head to Settings > Developer Options.

     - Tick on Don’t keep activities.

     - You can switch back anytime by unticking the disable.

SAVE BATTERY

There are two ways to enable the feature on stock Android. The first is to swipe down on the notification tray all the way until you see the battery percentage. Tap on the Battery icon, click the Menu button (that three vertical dot icon in the top right corner) and select Battery saver. The second method is to enter Settings, click on Battery, tap the Menu button and select Battery saver.

From here you can set the mode to turn on automatically once your battery reaches 15 or 5 percent, or you can manually switch it on. By default, battery saver mode is set to never turn on automatically, however you will be prompted with a notification asking if you'd like to turn it on once your battery reaches 15 percent.
When battery saver mode is enabled, an orange bar will appear at the top and bottom of the screen. The feature will turn off automatically when you begin to charge your device.
You can also close down apps that are draining your battery by going toSettings > Running Services, and pressing Stop to close apps you are no longer using.

SCREEN RECORDING

A subset of Android users over the years have resorted to rooting their devices to get more advanced features. Android has slowly gained features over time that make root less of a necessity. As of Android 5.0 Lollipop, there’s less reason than ever to root now that Android supports screen recording. You just need an app to take proper advantage of it.

A screen recording is simply an MP4 video file of what’s happening on your screen for the duration of the capture.
